Anya stood at the edge of the forest, her heart pounding in her chest. She had been running for hours, and she was exhausted. But she couldn't stop. She had to keep going.
Behind her, she could hear the sound of heavy footsteps approaching. The Nazis were closing in.
Anya took a deep breath and ran into the forest. She stumbled over the roots of trees and tripped on the uneven ground. But she kept going.
She ran until she could no longer hear the footsteps behind her. She collapsed on the ground, breathing heavily.
She was safe. For now.
